Have your Nursing voice heard- Support Workplace Violence Prevention Bill

Posted over 2 years ago by Ruben Castillo

As you know, workplace violence against nurses is unacceptably high. In fact, one in four nurses has been assaulted at work -- making them more likely to be exposed to violence than either prison guards or police officers.

That is why ANA has led efforts to introduce the Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Service Workers Act which will address this critical issue!

Urge your elected official to cosponsor this bill here>>>

The bill protects nurses by ensuring that health care providers will be ready and able to protect themselves, their coworkers, and their patients should the need arise. This legislation also requires the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to develop standards requiring health care and social service employers to write and implement a workplace violence prevention plan to protect employees from violent incidents in the workplace.

Congress needs to hear from nurses and advocates about this critical issue. Can you spare one minute to share your story and urge your elected officials to cosponsor this bill and support nurses?
