Mission - The North Texas Nurse Honor Guard's mission is to honor all nurses at the end of life for their selfless dedication and compassion to their patients.  We will provide a service with dignity and respect and officially release the nurse of their nursing duties at their last roll call.

Who we are - The nurse honor guard pays tribute to nurses for their selfless dedication to their patients and to their profession at their end of life with a "Nightingale Tribute."  Nurses from the Honor Guard of North Texas work voluntarily to be present at funeral homes, places of worship, gatherings, or the bedside to honor their nurse colleagues and perform their final roll call - to relieve them of their duties as nurses.  Our hope is that our presence is a source of comfort to the family and friends of the nurse who has passed, as well as a celebration of their nursing commitment.

During the ceremony:

•Attends all services wearing the traditional white uniform, cap and cape

•Stands guard at the casket and provide a presence at the services (per family request)

•Recites the Nightingale Pledge at the funeral or memorial service

•Presents the Florence Nightingale lamp to the family

•Performs Last Call to Duty

•Other Activities

In addition to end-of-life ceremonies, the NTX Nurse Honor Guard participates in events such as Nurse Graduations and pinning ceremonies, local high school events to speak about the nursing profession, nursing conferences, and other civic group events. You may appear on television or on YouTube as part of a ceremony over the course of your membership.

How much is it to join? Annual dues are $50. (used to purchase lamps, roses and other items to perform no cost service for family) and uniform/regalia.
