My name is Layla Ismail, and I’m a registered nurse at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where I work in the Multispecialty ICU caring for both cardiac and medical patients. I began my nursing career in July 2024 after earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin. During nursing school, I worked as a peer academic coach and was involved in the Longhorn Nursing Immersion Summer Camp, helping support and mentor future nursing students.

In my current role, I’ve gained valuable experience with advanced critical care technologies, including Impella devices, intra-aortic balloon pumps, CRRT, and Swan- Ganz catheters. I grew up in Austin but now live and work in Dallas, and I’m excited to become more actively involved in the nursing community here. As a member of the Texas Nurses Association, I’m looking forward to the opportunity to contribute, collaborate, and grow through committee service.
