Brooke Banks has been a registered nurse for 10 years. She has 7 years Emergency Department Experience (Both at JPS, a Level 1 Trauma Center, and Christus Hospital Systems in a very rural ER setting), 1 year of Trauma ICU (THR Harris, a Level 1 Trauma Center in Downtown Fort Worth), and is currently in her 3rd year as a Neuro ICU Nurse at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Her favorite part of nursing is precepting new nurses. Not only does she continue to hone her education through teaching, but it is very rewarding to watch new nurses grow and become confident in their bedside practice. She also has 5 years’ experience as a charge nurse but prefers bedside practice.
Recently she has started her own Legal Nurse Consulting business to advance further in her career. She formed and manages Dallas Legal Nurse, LLC.
Her pastimes include crossfit, reading, videogames, and she is trying to improve her gardening skills. She attends church at Fellowship in Dallas, where she volunteers with Bible Study there. She also is a landlord and her husband and herself are working on their first family business venture.
Brooke believes in government representation by the everyday man to promote change. Nursing is a tough job with long hours, and it is difficult to devote time outside of life to protecting nurses and promoting safe and equitable work environments. However, if there is no representation, then there will be no change. Therefore, Brooke would like to become more involved with local and state nursing organizations to help with building the career that nursing should be.
